What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Similar tools (local storage, pixels, scripts that read device information) follow the same rules. We call them all "cookies" here.
The rule we follow
PECR reg 6 says a website must not store or read information on your device unless an exception in PECR Schedule A1 applies. The exceptions that matter for a site like ours are:
- Consent (Sch A1 para 1): you are told clearly what the cookie is for, and you agree. Consent must meet the UK GDPR standard: freely given, specific, informed, a clear positive action, and as easy to withdraw as to give.
- Strictly necessary (para 4): needed to provide something you asked for, such as security, fraud prevention or remembering what you typed into a form.
- Statistical purposes / analytics (para 5): this exception is in force (from 5 Feb 2026). It applies only if all of these are true:
- the sole purpose is to collect statistics about how the site is used, to improve it;
- the data is not shared with anyone except someone helping us improve the site;
- we give you clear and comprehensive information about it; and
- we give you a simple, free way to object, and you have not objected.
- Appearance (para 6): remembering a display choice you made, with the same information and objection conditions.
If a tool does not clearly fit para 4, 5 or 6, we treat it as needing consent and do not load it until you agree.
Cookies on this site
This website does not set cookies or use similar technologies. We do not use analytics. (Server logs kept by our host are not cookies.)
Analytics
We do not use analytics on this website. If that ever changes, we will update this notice first and only use a tool that meets the PECR Sch A1 para 5 conditions above, or ask for your consent.
Emails
We do not put tracking pixels in our emails, and we do not use open or link tracking.
Your choices
- We use no cookies that need consent, so there is no cookie banner.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
